Rotary Brockville invited Steve Read, CHEO Foundation CEO, to speak at the recent Christmas Social. After his presentation, the Rotary Clubs of Brockville donated $1000, plus additional cash donations received at the event, to CHEO.At the December 10th Rotary Brockville Christmas Social, Steve Read, CEO of CHEO Foundation, presented an informative and enlightening talk. He spoke about the original founding of CHEO in 1974 and the extensive community advocacy and political will that was required to bring it into existence. He then expanded on the work needed to develop the Hospital's various programs, the undertaking to establish the CHEO Research Institute, and the Roger Neilson Children's Hospice, since it's inception. Steve related the CHEO Foundation's current work underway to empower children through a major capital campaign entitled "Kids These Days". With a $220 million goal, it is the biggest fundraising campaign ever undertaken by CHEO. With it's most ambitious plan ever, CHEO will remodel, reimagine, and build to adapt to the changing needs of children today and tomorrow.
