Rotary Brockville continued its long-standing tradition of having a Rural meeting hosted by the members of the congregation at Addison United Church. This tradition has been underway since the 1960's. A very enjoyable meal with hearty socializing was enjoyed by the approximately 50 people in attendance.
The 2026 Addison dinner also had a special after dinner presentation by Composer Sean O'Boyle. Sean is an Australian composer and conductor that has now relocated to the Mallorytown area. Sean regaled the audience with his tips to how to become an "overnight success". Sean highlighted how he has written music for, conducted, directed, and collaborated with many professional artists since his career began. He shared some of his most notable accomplishments. First, he was featured at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting where his compositions were performed live for Queen Elizabeth II. In addition, he also shared his experience when he was selected to compose the Sydney 2000 Olympics Games theme used by ABC Network Olympic broadcast. This theme music was subsequently performed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Sean sprinkled his presentation with references to many other aspects of his career, including making more than 100 CD recordings in many genres with leading musicians and arts companies, conducting recordings and concerts with many leading international orchestras, and creating original music for movie productions.
The audience was thoroughly entertained with Sean's presentation. Rotarian Alfred O'Rourke expressed the thanks for both Clubs to Sean for his remarks.
