Rotary Brockville

There are two Rotary Clubs in Brockville, the Rotary Club of Brockville and the Rotary Club of the 1000 Islands.  With two clubs, this allows members to belong to either the Monday  - noon hour luncheon club or the Wednesday morning breakfast club.

Working as one club, we come together to work on projects and events that benefit our residents, our community, our visitors and people benefiting from our international projects.

Rotary's impact can be seen throughout our picturesque city and around the world.

Ken Durand Sr, Chair of the Sherwood Park Manor Legacy of Care Redevelopment Fundraising Committee, addressed a Joint Meeting of Rotary Brockville on March 14, 2025.  Ken provided an extensive overview of the progress to date in rebuilding Sherwood Park Manor through new construction and renovation of the existing facility.  The $50 Million project is well on its way with a completion date projected for February 2026.  Ken reported that the project budget includes $48 million for construction and $2 million in furniture, fixtures, and equipment.  The new 128 bed Sherwood Park Manor will be state-of-the-art with enabling spaces to promote comfort and safety for residents and new technologies to promote operational and environmental efficiencies.

Ken thanked Rotary Brockville for its $40,000 commitment to the Legacy of Care campaign.  To date, the campaign has raised over $3 million of a $5 million fundraising goal.  The campaign leadership group feels confident that the goal will be reached.  In the photo above, Rotarian Tom Harrington (right) expressed the thanks of the two Clubs to Ken (left) for his informative presentation.  Ken was presented with a library book that will be donated in his name to the St. John Bosco Elementary School library.

The 2024 Ham Sales Fundraiser has come to a close with over 1200 hams sold!  Rotary Brockville thanks our many donors who purchased hams for their continued support in making this campaign another great success!  In addition to helping raise funds, several donors directed Rotary Brockville to send their hams directly to area food banks and other organizations working to address food security needs in our region.  Approximately 120 hams were delivered directly to these organizations by Rotary Brockville, on behalf of our donors.

During the wrap up event, Ham Committee Chair John Maskell recognized some key contributors to the campaign.  In the top photo, Rotarian John (right) presents the Hamster Trophy to retired Rotarian Ken Durand Sr. (left).  Ken and his son Ken Durand Jr (not present) were recognized as the top sellers for this campaign with over 400 hams sold between the pair.  John also recognized the Durands for their long-standing commitment to the Ham Sales initiative, which they started 20 years ago under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Prescott.  The Prescott Club is no longer operating and the Rotary Clubs of Brockville picked up this unique fundraising idea when the Durands joined the local Rotary Clubs.

In addition, John Maskell took the opportunity to thank Halls Apple Market for their long-standing partnership in the Ham fundraiser with Rotary Brockville.  John extended the thanks of the Clubs to Chris and Kim Hall, as well as, the new ownership group.  In the bottom picture, John Maskell (middle) presents a recognition plaque to Halls Apple Market representatives Kyle Hall (left) and Matthew Shapton (right).  Halls Apple Market expressed their commitment to continue to partner with Rotary in this important annual fundraising initiative.  Many thanks!

“Attending the February 28th kick-off of the Mermaids Season at the Brockville Aquatarium, were Rotary Brockville President Andrew Kizell (left) and Past President Doris Hallett (right).

This Mardi-Gras-inspired evening captured the Mystical Mermaids, delicious food, jazz music and casino games. Each person attending was given $150 in casino chips to try their luck at the tables.

From 6 to 11 pm, attendees had the opportunity to speak with the Mermaids or watch as they expertly swam in the water tank.

Proceeds from this Gala go towards enhancing the exhibits and for the care of the animals.”

The Brockville & District Hospital Foundation worked to revive the long-standing Palliative Care Telethon which takes place on February 22, 2025.
